This is an original 1957 color print of what we can guess was his second engagement. Arshile Gorky was Armenian but moved to America at the age of 16. He enrolled in the New School of Design in Boston and was influenced by Impressionism, but his work was more postimpressionistic. Later in his career he ventured into Cubism and Surrealism. He was deemed the Father of Abstract Expressionism.
