This is a rare original 1888 color chromolithograph which depicts some of the elegant neoclassical styles from the post-revolutionary periods of the Directory and the Consulate in late 18th century and early 19th century France. After the continued archeological findings of the classical world, and the need to distance themselves from the stiff, corseted figures of Marie Antoinette's ill-fated court, women clung to these new trends which emphasized their long lines and natural figures.
