This is an original 1886 black and white in-text wood engraving of a statue known as Niobe. Niobe was the daughter of Tantalus and was punished by the gods for her hubris. The gods Apollo and Artemis killed all of her children and did not allow Niobe to bury them until she had finished fasting for nine days.

This 125+ year old Item is rated Very Fine +++. Light aging throughout. No creases. Minor print defect - center. No surface rub. No tears. No water damage. Please note: There is printing on the verso. Please also note that there are a few small dark spots in the margins.
