This image captures the Congress Column as it appeared in the early twentieth century. Situated on the Place du Congrès in Brussels, the monument commemorates the formation of the Belgian state, and act achieved by the National Congress in 1830-31. Atop the column resides a stature of King Leopold I by Guillaume Geffs.
