This is an original 1932 color print of a sculpture of Heracles wrestling with Triton, a serpent-like being. The sculpture was found at the pediment of the Temple of Athena. According to myth, Athena, the goddess of warfare, was born by bursting from her father, Zeus' head. The friezes on all sides of the structure were decorated with relief sculptures that depict monumental events.
