Boris Artzybasheff

Boris Artzybasheff (1899-1965) was a native of Kharkov, Russia, prior to relocating to the United States. He was most recognized for his childrenÕs book illustrations, graphic art design, fresco murals, printmaking and mosaics, as well as his surrealism, realism and cartoonist artistic styles. His works primarily centered on figures, genre, portraits, fantasy, space and historical subjects. Artzybasheff later provided artwork for such noteworthy magazine publications as LIFE, Fortune and Time. He also created works for the Walt Disney Studio. Additionally, Artzybasheff provided advertising art for Shell Oil, Pan Am, Xerox, Scotch Tape, Vultee Aircraft, Parker Pens, Parke-Davis, and more. Later in his life, Artzybasheff was affiliated with the Society of Illustrators.
