This is an original 1953 black and white halftone print of Maeshowe, or Maes Howe, a Neolithic passage grave located in Orkney, Scotland. The site has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as well as the surrounding archaeological monuments, like Skara Brae. The mound is 115 feet in diameter, and 24 feet high above the ground; it is the largest tomb in all of Orkney.
