Spencer Douglass Crockwell
Spencer Douglass Crockwell (1904-1968) was an American artist hailing from Columbus, Ohio. However, he received his formal art education at the St. Louis School of Fine Art. Crockwell was most recognized for his paintings, fresco murals, illustrations and mosaics, as well as his modernism and realism styles. His works primarily centered on figures, genre, interior views and historical subjects. CrockwellÕs art has been exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and more. He was affiliated with the Allied Artists of America and the Society of Illustrators.
