This is an original 1963 color print by Rafael Montes de Oca of two Amazilia Beryllina Hummingbirds. More commonly known as the Berylline Hummingbird, these birds have an average length of 87-100 mm. Males tend to have metallic green heads and back, with their breast and belly a bright emerald green. The female, by contrast, has a gray or cinnamon colored belly. Found predominantly in Mexico, the Berylline Hummingbird can still be found as far south as Honduras and El Salvador. The pictured orchid belongs to the Brassavola glauca species.
