"Thaumatias Lerdi"
This is an original 1963 color print by Rafael Montes de Oca of a member of the Thaumatias Lerdi family, commonly known as the Lerdo de Tejada Hummingbird, thought to be now extinct. The featured flower is Bothriochilus macrostachyus, more commonly known as the Large Red Coelia, which generally blooms in May or June, and growns in the Mexican state of Veracruz, around Orizaba and Cordoba.
