This is an original 1872 black and white wood engraving of a sketch by English novelist William Makepeace Thackeray (1811-1863) entitled "Lord Crabs Bestows one the Ladies his Parting Benediction." This was a scene from Thackeray's Yellowplush Papers, which were comic sketches about the life and times of early 19th century footman Charles Yellowplush.
