This is an original 1865 black and white print ad for Gilbert & Surburg of 575 Broadway in New York. This ad features their patent Pile Instrument, which was developed to treat bleeding piles, prolapsus, and habitual constipation. It may not look like much fun to use (or sit on), but it's pocket-sized for convenience.
