This is an original 1922 sepia rotogravure titled, "Failure of Charles to Regain Hungarian Throne." The first image shows Charles assuming the throne at Budapest on December 30, 1916, an image of Charles reviewing his troops in Raab, Hungary, Charles and his wife, Zita, and Admiral Horthy, who prevented Charles' attempt to regain the throne. The caption for the bottom image writes, "Admiral Horthy, Regent of Hungary, reviewing the new Hungarian Guard, which, it will be noted, is equipped with German helmets. Special efforts had been made in recruiting the forces to exclude any of Bolshevist tendencies. It was Horthy's resistance that prevented the success of Charles's attempt to regain his throne."
