This is an original 1922 sepia rotogravure of a statue of General George Gordon Meade, and a statue of George Washington. The caption for Washington writes, "Statue of George Washington, a gift by the State of Virginia to Great Britain, unveiled on June 30, 1921, in Trafalgar Square, London. Lord Curzon accepted the statue on behalf of his Government in a felicitous speech, and Miss Judith Brewer of Virginia unveiled it. After the United States flag had fallen away an American veteran of the Civil War, in his half-century-old uniform, placed the first wreath at its base."
