The Dayak people are an indigenous culture of some infamy in Borneo. Their reputation for fierceness comes from a history of headhunting. However, this practice fell to the history books as Christianity and Islam overtook the animistic religions of Borneo. Then, in the late 1990's, the resentment of loss of land and culture shook the Dayak people into beginning the practice against the Madurese who had moved to the region.
