Giorgio Barbarelli da Catelfranco (Giorgione)
Giorgio Barbarelli da Castelfranco (Giorgione) (1477/1478-1510) was perhaps the most obscure Venetian Italian Renaissance painter in history, as he never signed his art, which consequently led to extremely few pieces being truly attributed to Giorgione himself. His works primarily centered on portraits of famous figures, religious and mythological subjects, as well as altarpieces. GiorgioneÕs art has been held in the Uffizi in Florence, the Louvre in Paris, the Museum of Fine Arts in Budapest, the Alte Pinakothek in Munich, the Gemaldegalerie in Dresden, the Accademia in Venice, the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, the National Gallery of Art in Washington and many more.
