1905 Print Brunnhilde Norse Mythology Death Charles Robinson Siegfried XMB9

This is an original 1905 monochrome relief line-block print that depicts a scene from Richard Wagner's opera series Der Ring des Nibenlungen. After slaying Fafner and listening to the words of the woodbird, Siegfried comes upon the magical ring of fire surrounding the sleeping Brunnhilde. It is said that until he gazed upon her face, he had never felt a twinge of fear or self-doubt.
