This is an original 1924 halftone print of the grave of Eleanora Duse, the Italian actress, at Asolo. The caption writes, "This little village in northern Italy, beloved by Browning, is where Lord Byron also is buried. The man standing uncovered in the rain is Morris Gest. The American manager had promised to visit the actress at her home in Asolo July 18th. He kept his promise though death had made the meeting a silent one." Morris Gest was a theatrical producer and worked on Broadway as well as at the Manhattan Opera House.
