This is an original 1937 color print of two boats in Baltimore, Maryland. The caption writes, "A Bethlehem Steel ore boat (left) and a scantic line Hog Islander in for repairs at Baltimore." Ships built at the Hog Island shipyard near Philadelphia were known as "Hog Islanders," and although well-built, were usually unattractive. Photography by Mettee-Frittita of Baltimore.
