1899 Print Spanish-American War General Shafter Troops Landing Soldiers Cuba

This is an original 1899 black and white print of American troops landing from their transport ships at Daiquir’, Cuba which was the focal point of the United States invasion of Cuba in the Spanish-American War of 1898.

Period Paper is pleased to offer an outstanding collection of original historical color and black and white print illustrations of the Spanish-American War that were published in 1899. Following the sinking of the Battleship Maine in Havana harbor on February 15, 1898, the United States declared war on Spain on April 25, 1898. The war ended on December 10, 1898 with the signing of the Treaty of Paris resulting in Spain losing Cuba, Puerto Rico, the Philippines, Guam and other islands in its overseas empire. Some of these prints are printed on heavier stock with no printing on the reverse, while others are on regular stock and may have text on the reverse. Although the condition of each print varies, this collection will be of interest to the serious history collector.
