"The Laurel"
This is an original 1838 black and white engraving of two Grecian women with a laurel branch and lyre by artist Fanny Corbaux (1812-1883). Engraver: B. Hall.
Period Paper is pleased to offer a charming collection of original Victorian engravings of female figures which are emblematic of various flowers. Various artists contributed to this lovely collection, and each image is accompanied by a poem by Letitia E. Landon, the Countess of Blessington and Thomas Haynes Bayley. (The poem is included with each image.) The condition of the individual pieces in the collection varies. They were printed on a heavy 19th century paper stock and there is some foxing and aging, as can be expected with pieces of this vintage. However, many of these blemishes could be eliminated by framing. One of our finest offerings!
CONDITION
This 173+ year old Item is rated Very Fine ++. No creases. No tears. There is some light aging in the margins and some foxing on the second image of the poem--please see all images.
