This is an original 1890 black and white wood engraving of the alleged tomb of Archimedes in Syracuse, Italy (Italia). Archimedes (287-212 BC) was born in the region, and became a mathematician, engineer, inventor and astronomer. He is sometimes considered the greatest mathematician of ancient history, and one of the best of all time.
