Period Paper is pleased to offer items from a collection featuring images from Frederick A. Ober's exploration of the West Indies. Sent by the WorldÕs Columbian Exposition as a special commissioner, Ober followed the footfalls of Christopher Columbus from 1877 to 1892 through various regions and captured the landscapes, historic landmarks, and sculptures along his way. Henry Robertson Blaney was deemed the principle artist responsible for transferring OberÕs photographic images into artistry, which he appeared to do with ease and conviction. Enjoy this aesthetic and enlightening journey tracing the track of famous explorer, Christopher Columbus.
