This is an original 1897 ad for the Publishing House of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South of Nashville, Tennessee. The ad states that the Publishing House "can supply any good book you want, no matter where published," including books of theology, biography, history, poetry, miscellany, and classics, plus holiday, birthday, or anniversary gifts for the young and the old. The facilities also offer bookbinding, fine printing, and electrotyping services. Barbee & Smith, Agents and Publishers. The ad includes a nice illustration of the building.

The Tennessee Centennial and International Exposition was a World's Fair which ran from May 1 to October 31 of 1897 in Nashville. It was designed to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Tennessee's entry into the union in 1796, although it was a year delayed. Located to the west of the city in what is known today as Centennial Park, the Fair boasted many buildings and exhibitsÐÐthe most notable of which was The Parthenon, built by the city of Nashville, and the Pyramid representing the city of Memphis.
