This is an original 1898 black and white cover for the Scientific American Journal for April 9th (Volume LXXVIII, No. 15). This cover features a pair of new battleships of the American Naval fleet: the Kentucky and the New Orleans Cruiser (which was formerly the Amazonas of the Brazilian Navy).

CONDITION

This 113+ year old Item is rated Very Fine ++. Heavy aging in margins. Moderate creasing.No natural defects. Some heavy surface rub. Small hole - right margin. Light moisture wrinkling. Please note that there is bleed through due to print on the reverse. Please also note that this cover has very heavy scuffing and rubbing.
