This is an original 1901 two-color cover for the Harvard Lampoon. It features the Lampy the Jester sitting on a winged horse, holding up a shield inscribed with the motto Vanitas (Latin, meaning "empty"), a parody of Harvard's motto, Veritas, or "Truth". The cartoon depicts a quaint rural scene along with a poem about the various farm animals, and the student artist Little included his year of expected graduation (1904) under his signature.CONDITION
