This is an original circa 1901 black and white wood engraving of a painting by Sir Edward John Poynter, 1st Baronet (1836-1919) entitled "The Catapult" that depicted ancient Roman soldiers manning a siege engine at the Battle of Carthage, Tunisia, Africa that was fought between 149-146 BCE during the Third Punic War.
