This is an original 1906 black and white intaglio print of Father Joseph Emmanuel Sieyès, a political theorist and sociologist during the period of the French Revolution. He is perhaps most famous for writing a pamphlet entitled, What is the Third Estate?, which defines the common classes of France as a complete nation that would benefit from not having the "dead weight" of the upper classes in order to ensure genuine representation.
