This is an original 1921 halftone print of the Kikuyu king. The caption writes, "An ordinary warrior is usually content with three or four better halves, or rather better quarters, but the most important chiefs can sometimes boast of twenty or thirty, thus plunging us into difficult fractions." The Kikuyu are Kenya's largest ethnic group, and amount to 23% of the total population.
