This is an original 1922 sepia rotogravure of British soldiers raiding a center in Dublin to check for Sinn Féin activities, government troops armed with bayonets and battering down a door in Dublin, and a squad of soldiers with Sinn Féin prisoners who had been captured. Sinn Féin is the Irish republican party, and during this image, was under watch as many of the members played a part in the Easter Rising of 1916. The caption for the center image reads, "Government troops with bayonets fixed using a pickaxe to batter down the doors of a house in Dublin that had been used as a depository for seditious literature and a rendezvous for Sinn Féin adherents. The men are ready for a sortie on the part of those who had been holding the building despite orders to surrender."
