This is an original 1928 black and white relief line-block print of a simplified version of the Old English typeface.

The images in this collection are examples of typeface and fonts commonly used by sign painters during the 1920s. The finish of choice was usually lacquer which is a fast-drying solvent-based paint or varnish that produces an especially hard and durable finish on top of the sign.
