The Valley of the Kings, near Thebes, Egypt, was a historic site where ancient Egyptians constructed tombs for the pharaohs and other powerful figures of the New Kingdom. Tomb construction ranged from the 16th to the 11th century BC. Today, around 63 tombs and chambers have been located in the area.
