1930 Halftone Print Trujilo Peru Chimor Chimu Moche Border Textile Costume XDC1

This is an original 1930 black and white halftone print of a textile that was probably used as a border on a garment that was created by the people of the Chimú culture. The design in this piece contains birds and fish in a stepped design that is border on the top and bottom by birds.

The people of this culture lived in Chimor which was located in the Moche Valley in present day Trujillo, Peru. The culture existed between 900 AD and 1470 AD when it was then conquered by the Inca. The Chimú were known to have worshipped the moon and viewed the sun (that the Inca worshipped) as a destroyer.
