This is an original 1931 black and white print ad for Kleenex Cleansing Tissues, featuring famous American actress Laura La Plante. La Plante was most famous for her roles in silent films. The majority of her films were produced for Universal Pictures. In 1929, La Plante acted in the Show Boat film, which was adapted by the novel by Edna Ferber. This was one of the first examples of voice-dubbing, as La Plante did not actually ever sing in the movie, but rather her singing parts were done by Eva Olivetti. While, La Plante was a natural at acting, the up-and-coming actresses in the business began to overshadow her career, as well as future opportunities for film or television roles.
