This is an original 1932 color print of a sculpture found at the Acropolis of Athens. This woman figure was found in the rubble of the Parthenon. This sculpture helped historians identify if Greek sculptures were painted-- and if they were-- how, and where. Artists in Ancient Greece were regarded lowly in society. Lucius Plutarchus, the 1st century historian and writer, wrote, "While we delight in the work, we despise the worksman".
