This is an original 1935 color print of the push carts in New York City. The caption writes, "Escarole, mussels, prickly pears, plantains, pomegranates, eels... great is the pushcart's variety. You may even buy herbs: verbena, tansy, rosemary (which, the vendor assures you, removes freckles), pennyroyal (drives flies away), saffron (an aphrodisiac)." Photography by Aikins.
