Mitchell Siporin

Mitchell Siporin (1910-1976) was a Jewish New York-native who moved to Chicago, Illinois, in 1911 and then studied at the Art Institute of Chicago. Siporin was well known for his Depression-era WPA (Works Progress Administration) artistic depictions of the struggle of the working class in America. He later founded the Brandeis University's Department of Fine Arts in 1951.
