This is an original 1937 color print portrait of Wendell Willkie. Willkie was the Republican nominee in the 1940 presidential election, but lost to Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Had he been elected, Willkie would have died during his term, as in 1944, he died after experiencing twenty heart attacks.
