This is an original 1938 black and white photogravure of a fresco from Piero della Francesco's Legend of the True Cross mural at the San Francesco Basilica in Arezzo, Italy. Supposedly it was the Empress Helen, mother of Constantine who made the discovery after torturing the information out of an informer.
