This is an original 1947 color print featuring an image of John Goadby Gregory (1856 - 1947), a journalist, historian and author.
Gregory was a compositor/writer for the Milwaukee Sentinel, and a reporter for the Evening Wisconsin. Who's Who in Amer. He edited four four-volume series: History of Milwaukee, Southeastern Wisconsin, Southwestern Wisconsin, and West Central Wisconsin between 1931 and 1933. Gregory also served on the Republican county committee, and was a professor of journalism at Marquette University in 1919. From 1919 to 1923, he was secretary of the Wisconsin War History Commission, and headed the War History Division of the State Historical Society.
