Francois Clouet
Francois Clouet (1510-1572) held the position of Groom of the Chamber. He was appointed painter in ordinary to the royal family and courtesans, and received a regular salary for his portraiture and miniatures. Unfortunately, there is little hard evidence to prove what paintings were created by him, what we do know is that his work was praised constantly and the pieces that are attributed to him show an incredible amount of detail and completeness.
