This is an original 1953 black and white halftone print of a variety of antique 17th, 18th and 19th century housewares and home decor hailing from England and Holland. The originals of numbers 1, 3, 4, 8, 12, and 16-25 were held in the Museum for German Ethnology in Berlin, while the originals for numbers 2, 5, and 6 were held in the British Museum in London. The originals for numbers 7, 9, and 14 were held in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and the original for number 11 was held in the Lomax Collection in Manchester. Finally, the original for number 13 was held in the Glaisher Collection in Cambridge.
1. and 3. 18th century Dutch plate.
2. 1751 bowl with the inscription: "William Bird made this mould in the year of Our Lord 1751." This piece was native to Staffordshire, England.
4., 8., 12., and 16. 18th century Dutch wall tiles.
2. and 7. Late 17th century plates (2) with the signature of Thomas Toft. This piece was native to Staffordshire.
6. 1740 plate, native to Staffordshire.
9. Circa 1700 plate from England.
10. 1795 platter from England.
11. Late 17th century plate, native to Staffordshire.
13. 1691 Bowl with cover, native to Staffordshire.
14. Late 17th century large cup, thought to be from Staffordshire.
15. Mid 17th century jug, native to London.
