This is an original 1956 black and white print ad for McCalls Magazine, a monthly readership American woman's magazine. In 1873, the magazine was known as The Queen and was changed to McCalls' Magazine-The Queen of Fashion (shortened to McCall's later) in 1897. The magazine published fiction by famous authors such as John Steinbeck, Jack Finney, Ray Bradbury, Willa Cather and Scott Fitzgerald. From 1942 to 1962 First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt wrote a column titled, "If You Ask Me," in which she responded to questions that people wrote in to the magazine. From about 1951 to 1995 the famed Betsy McCall paper dolls were found in most of the magazine's issues.
