This is an original 1963 color print by Rafael Montes de Oca of two members of the Amazilia Cyanocephala family, more commonly known as the Red-Billed Azure-Crown Hummingbird. With an average length of 95-100 mm.. these birds boast a metallic blue-green crown, and pure white brease, throat, and abdomen. The beak, which is rather long, is dark on top and reddish below. Found throughout the sub-trpical regions of Mexico, they can be found as far south as Nicaragua. The pictured orchid, Epidendrum virgatum, which is found in Veracruz and the surrounding regions, and flowers in the early summer.
