"Untitled."

This is an original 1966 hand-mounted color print by Pablo Picasso. Cramer 134. This original print is from the final portfolio of the three-volume series "Secrets d'alcove d'un atelier" which was an important group of Picasso monographs by Helene Parmelin. Parmelin was allowed "intimate" access to Picasso's studio when he was an artist in his mid-80's, examining the works of art of that Picasso refused to sell because they held particular meaning to him. This is why most of the works offered from this collection are not named. It is a true exploration of achievement in the latter part of his career.

This item is labeled as a work completed on June 5, 1964, originally on paper at a size of approximately 21x29 and is a portrait illustration. Dated in the plate. The item is still mounted to the board from the portfolio (please note that there is printing on the verso of the mounting board). There is nothing printed on the verso of the tipped color print. The color print was printed in France in 1966 and any text below it on the board was printed in the Netherlands. It was hand-mounted in Germany.

Pablo Picasso

Pablo Picasso (1881-1973) was a Spanish painter, stage designer, and sculptor. An incredibly talented man, he tried his hand at many different artistic styles throughout his life, including realism, classicism and surrealism; however he is most remembered for being a co-pioneer of cubism with French artist Georges Braque. Several specific "periods" into which his work is classified include his Blue Period, during which time he preferred to draw mothers and children in bluish and greenish hues, and his Rose Period, which featured more lively subjects such as acrobats and harlequins. He is considered to be one of the greatest and most influential 20th century artists, and is especially remembered for his portrayal of the bombing of Guernica during the Spanish Civil War in his 1937 piece, "Guernica."
